HM & Congress Pair Up for Hep C

Health Monitor Reaches the Halls of Congress to Help Raise Awareness for Hep C Testing
As part of his effort to raise awareness for hepatitis C testing, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA), who has been battling the hepatitis C virus (HCV) for 14 years, was featured on the cover of Health Monitor magazine earlier this year. Next month, copies of this issue will be distributed to every member of Congress along with a personalized letter from the Congressman urging reform in hepatitis surveillance, education and testing programs. “There are currently four million (4,000,000) Americans infected with Hepatitis C Virus [HCV], but three in four have no idea they have it.” Congressman Johnson is dedicated to passing HR 3381, the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act of 2011 to prevent needless suffering and skyrocketing healthcare costs. He went on to express his gratitude to Health Monitor for sharing his story with its extensive network of readers and healthcare professionals.
