HM Goes to the White House

In keeping with Health Monitor’s ongoing effort to inform and educate patients and providers, Jodie Green, Health Monitor’s Executive Director of Digital Media, attended the Women’s Health Town Hall at the White House on June 7. The Town Hall was a forum for discussion about the current administration’s efforts to provide improved health care for women. Of particular note was the administration’s focus on innovation, including looking into ways to enable the FDA to grant faster approval of drugs to help patients.

Speakers and panelists included Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services; Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Obama and Chair of the White House Council on Women & Girls; Cecilia Muñoz, Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council; Judy Waxman, Vice President of the National Women’s Law Center; Caya Lewis, Counselor to the Secretary of Health & Human Services; and Mayra Alvarez, Director of Public Health Policy, Office of Health Reform, Health & Human Services.
